Aberdeenshire Council success with OS data
OSMA annual conference showcases GIS projects from prominent Scotland council
David Henderson, Managing Director of Ordnance Survey, highlighted One Scotland Mapping Agreement (OSMA) member success stories in his keynote presentation at the OSMA annual conference.
Aberdeenshire Council was featured for its strategic planning of future service provision with GIS and Ordnance Survey® (OS®)data. One example is school estate planning and roll forecasting. Using primary school pupils’ home postcode with school catchment area, a spider analysis is created on OS 1:250k base map in Cadcorp SIS Desktop.

Another project was managing and maintaining infrastructure assets, which requires detailed and current data. OS MasterMap Water Network data is used with recording of Inspections and Flooding Incidents. This information is made accessible to all council staff via Cadcorp SIS WebMap on the council’s intranet. For authorised staff, edit capabilities are also made available.

Local Authorities use Cadcorp SIS in a number of ways, either directly or integrated into other applications provided by Cadcorp’s technology partners.
