Sharing local knowledge in the fire service. An expanding role for geographic information systems
The theme
The last twelve months we have witnessed a notable increase in the use of geographic information systems by fire services in the UK. In this time, fire services have extended both the range and reach of their GIS deployments.
Faced with reduced budgets and changing demands, many fire services are recognising the key role that GIS can play in supporting smarter working. GIS has the capability to transform that most valuable commodity of fire services – local knowledge. Providing local knowledge as a corporate resources allows it to be drawn upon by anyone in the service, whether for protection, prevention, or response.
Who should attend
The conference is open to all fire services professionals with an interest in the application of GIS and web mapping.
What you will hear
Attendees will hear directly about the experiences of other fire services in presentations that will include:
- their business cases for investing in GIS
- their experiences in both procurement and deployment
- who in their service are now able to use GIS and for what purposes
- the business systems that GIS is integrated with
- what the impacts have been, following deployment
There will also be opportunity to see the latest spatially-enabled business applications from Cadcorp – both desktop and web, and to hear from the Ordnance Survey and Cadcorp business partner, 3tc.
