At this year’s Local Government Conference, we examined a typical weekly workload of a GIS professional in Government and the challenges they face. We explored software applications, techniques and services that help streamline the multitude of tasks they undertake, and provide benefits to the council and the public they serve.
City of Stoke-on-Trent shared how they created a Social Care directory and more with web mapping.
Ordnance Survey gave a public sector update and informed delegates of their free Mapping for Emergencies service. Presentations provided insight into what should be considered when evaluating cloud and a year in the life of a GIS programmer. Other practical sessions looked at making GIS less task heavy with some tips and tricks.
