Cadcorp Emergency Services Conference 2024 – Presentations

This year’s conference brought together Fire, Police and Ambulance Services to examine data-driven strategies and technologies that mitigate risk, optimise response planning, and enhance overall resilience.
Location intelligence professionals from Great Britain and Northern Ireland joined us in Leeds to discuss challenges, exchange knowledge and explore solutions in the field of GIS and spatial analysis.
Delegates received a Cadcorp Emergency Services Update and a demonstration of the Ordnance Survey® (OS) National Geographic Database (NGD) for response and resilience-building within Cadcorp SIS Desktop. Surrey Fire and Rescue Service then presented on how they integrate drive times in SIS Desktop, using the inbuilt routing functionality, to inform decision-making.
Applications that meet the demand for strategic resource planning are a key priority for blue light service delivery. We shared recent Enhancements for realistic scenario modelling in the latest version of Cadcorp Workload Modeller. This was followed by a demonstration of the dynamic cover application, Cover Modeller, including scenario planning for reduced availability.
Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service in their presentation ‘A GIS revo-Luton: Visualising Fire Risk in Bedfordshire’, shared how they integrated NFCC national risk methodologies into Cadcorp SIS. With the use of maps, they explained how this analysis helps them gain a new understanding of the likelihood and consequence of dwelling fires, as well as the distribution of road traffic collision risk throughout Bedfordshire.
Maps are integral to encouraging community engagement. Visualisation for safer communities discussed how sharing incident data on an embedded map using Cadcorp SIS WebMap is an effective way to inform the public of live incident data. Integrating a web map into a dashboard tool such as Cadcorp SIS WebMap for Power BI can also be deployed to highlight where communities can be made safer and more resilient.
West Yorkshire Police who have been Cadcorp SIS users for over 10 years, shared their geospatial journey and how they use Cadcorp GeognoSIS® with the OS Maps API within Sopra Steria SmartSTORM. They explained how SIS Desktop allows their intelligence teams to independently create a range of maps for in-depth analysis.
This presentation was followed by Incorporating spatial insight for evidenced-based data analysis and modelling. Cadcorp described in detail how emergency services have been maximising operational efficiencies from independently performed scenario modelling and risk profiling.
Ordnance Survey provided delegates with a comprehensive overview of its recently launched Emergency Services Gazetteer, a single centralised source of critical information that allows first responders to precisely identify locations. The conference ended with an update on how emergency services are creating solutions with cloud.
Collaboration was paramount throughout the conference, and delegates took the opportunity to exchange ideas in networking sessions.
“Great conference again. Plenty to take away and apply to my own service.”
