This year’s conference brought together Fire, Police and Ambulance Services to explore the value of GIS and web mapping for emergency service spatial analysis

Location intelligence professionals from Great Britain, Northern Ireland and Ireland joined us in Birmingham to receive a Cadcorp update on the latest GIS, data modelling, and cloud projects at Emergency Services. This included a presentation from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service on how they utilise national risk methodology with Cadcorp SIS Desktop to build a risk model for addressing domestic dwelling fires.

Matching resources, demand, and risk remains a key priority for blue light service delivery. With that at the forefront, the agenda included demonstrations of Cadcorp software applications for emergency services. Delegates were also shown how to make the most of Ordnance Survey® Average Speed Data, and the benefits of independently performed data analysis and modelling. Cadcorp’s Technical Director provided a preview of major software updates coming to SIS Desktop and SIS Webmap.

Ordnance Survey provided an update on the OS National Geographic Database and Cadcorp technology partner, 3tc, was on hand to demonstrate MODAS Professional, a mobile data software application.

Collaboration was paramount throughout the conference, and delegates took the opportunity to exchange ideas in networking sessions.

“Great to have the opportunity to meet people from other fire services and to see presentations showing their work.”

Joanne Stewart, System Administrator, County Durham and Darlington Fire & Rescue Service
