Pre-Sales Engineer

Cadcorp is seeking a GIS Pre-Sales Engineer to join its experienced and skilled sales team. 

Based in Stevenage, reporting to the Pre-Sales Manager, and ideally with 1-4 years’ experience in the GIS or related industry; the engineer will provide pre-sales support to Cadcorp’s sales team. The position involves extensive travel in the UK. 

As part of the team, you will get to work with a wide range of software technologies including Cadcorp’s core desktop and web technologies, third-party related software and cloud technologies.

Experience

  • Educated to degree or Masters level
  • A background in GIS or a related discipline
  • Have a keen interest in GIS and web mapping technologies
  • Candidates should be confident, adaptable and self-motivated

Competencies

  • Experience in the use and application of various Geo technologies
  • Knowledge of databases and web services
  • Able to demonstrate excellent communication and presentation skills that can be applied to this customer facing role
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office software
  • Ideally some basic programming skills (such as Python) together with some knowledge of front-end web technologies such as JavaScript, HTML and CSS

The role includes extensive customer interaction across a wide variety of industry sectors.

The Cadcorp graduate programme allows you to spend two years in a structured scheme experiencing key aspects of our business and developing your skills and knowledge.

During the programme you will work within various teams of specialists, learning and contributing at the same time. We will actively encourage you to use your creativity and ingenuity.

Programme Outcomes

As a result of your involvement in the programme, you will become an expert in the use and application of Cadcorp technology and gain considerable knowledge of the wider GIS market as well as the demands and requirements of our customers.

Towards the end of the programme we will begin discussing with you the next steps and the aspects of the business that particularly interest you.

Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • A minimum 2:1 (achieved or predicted) in a relevant degree subject such as GIS, Geography, Software Engineering, Maths or IT.  A master’s degree is not essential but may be helpful towards your application
  • An understanding of GIS software
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of JavaScript & Python (beneficial but not essential)
  • Ability to work with and within teams from various departments
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • An inquiring mind and aptitude for learning within a range of different subject areas
