Cadcorp hosts housing association seminar

Housing association GIS users meet in Hertfordshire

Digital mapping and geographic information systems (GIS) software developer, Cadcorp, recently hosted a meeting dedicated to supporting GIS users in housing associations.

Held in the Node Conference Centre, near Hitchin, Hertfordshire, UK, attendees included representatives from ten housing associations along with staff from the Ordnance Survey and Cadcorp business partners working in the sector.

Cadcorp showed a demonstration of its recently launched Housing Association Toolkit which, when combined with the Cadcorp SIS – Spatial Information System desktop GIS products, provides a GIS capability particular to the needs of organisations working in this sector. Attendees were shown how developments in web-based GIS could promote better exchange of information between departments and with business partner organisations, thus contributing to an increased return on investment.

The Ordnance Survey updated the audience on latest developments with their data products, including  Address Layer 2, while Graeme Gould, GIS officer of Grand Union Housing Group provided an overview of how GIS is used within his organisation.

Gina Tomlinson of Places for People commented, “We found Cadcorp’s housing association seminar extremely useful. It was really informative and gave us the opportunity to network with other housing associations using Cadcorp SIS.”

“It is always a pleasure for Cadcorp to host events such as this,” said Mike O’Neil, managing director, Cadcorp, “Our housing association seminar  complements Cadcorp’s rapidly expanding user community in this area and we look forward to holding meetings in the future.”
