Press Release

Cadcorp to implement spatial data warehouse at Oldham Council.

New system will provide council with a corporate GIS data store.

Digital mapping and geographic information systems (GIS) software developer Cadcorp has announced that it has been awarded a contract by Oldham Council to provide a spatial data warehouse. Cadcorp will supply its spatial data warehouse utilities, and associated consulting services together with a licence of Cadcorp SIS Map Modeller to assist with data management.

The new spatial data warehouse will be Oracle based and builds on an existing Cadcorp installation at the council. The warehouse will provide an open, standard, corporate GIS data store for the council, its existing Cadcorp software, and applications based on other GIS software.

Nicki Strudwick, GI manager at Oldham Council said, “The council’s GIS infrastructure was fragmented, with departmental GIS applications and limited data sharing. The Cadcorp Spatial Data Warehouse Utility offers a cost-effective solution, which will enable the council to build on its existing GIS investment. The tool will enable data to be shared more easily between different GIS applications, saving time and improving data management whilst the Oracle-based data warehouse will provide a sound platform for future GIS development.”

“We are delighted that Oldham Council has selected Cadcorp technology as the basis of its new spatial data warehouse,” said Mike O’Neil, managing director, Cadcorp. “We look forward to working with the council to help it to realise its ambitions.”
