Press ReleaseSunderland Housing Group selects Cadcorp GeognoSIS.NET software for intranet-based GIS. Software provides Web-based data interoperability with existing desktop GIS. Digital mapping and geographic information systems (GIS) software developer Cadcorp has announced that Sunderland Housing Group has selected Cadcorp GeognoSIS.NET software for the provision of Web-based mapping and geospatial analysis facilities. Sunderland Housing Group is the largest landlord in the region, with a portfolio of over 30,000 properties across the City of Sunderland and nearly 1,700 staff to service them. They needed a solution that would enable staff to view and analyse existing spatial based business information across the Group’s intranet as an aid to the regeneration process and to improved customer service “We chose Cadcorp GeognoSIS.NET because of its ability to directly read from, and write to, a very wide range of GIS, CAD and database formats without translation, out-of-the-box. There are no hidden extras to purchase,” said Steve Green, ICT project delivery manager, Sunderland Housing Group. “This was very important to us as our desktop GIS is from another vendor and we are also migrating to OS MasterMap. We needed a web based solution that can handle these and other formats without difficulty. ” he added. Cadcorp GeognoSIS.NET will be used across Sunderland Housing Group’s intranet. It will allow staff to access, view and analyse spatial information relating to the Group’s various housing programmes, including its Orchard House Management System, Choice-Based Lettings, Anti-Social Behaviour and Excellent Customers programmes. Using the software’s spatial analysis facilities, staff will be able to identify where people want to live – thereby helping in the development of the Group’s regeneration programme – and also to identify crime or anti-social behaviour hot-spots. “We see the application of GIS in helping housing associations underpin the entire housing management lifecycle as an important and growing area,” said Mike O’Neil, managing director, Cadcorp. “We are therefore delighted that Sunderland Housing Group selected Cadcorp GeognoSIS.NET for its Web-based GIS and we look forward to working with them to help them achieve their aims.” Cadcorp is currently exhibiting at the Chartered Institute of Housing Exhibition, June 21-24th 2005, Harrogate International Centre on the Ordnance Survey stand in Hall B, stand 139. Cadcorp will also be exhibiting with the Ordnance Survey at the Social Housing Exhibition, 14-16th September 2005 at The International Convention Centre, Birmingham.
