Press ReleaseCadcorp expands team, appointing Richard Rollins marketing manager Following continued growth, digital mapping/geographic information systems (GIS) software developer Cadcorp has announced the appointment of Richard Rollins as marketing manager. Reporting to board member and sales and marketing director, Martin McGarry, he takes on responsibility for overseeing Cadcorp's worldwide marketing strategy. Rollins has over 12 years marketing, business development and consulting experience within the GIS, eGov, location-based services (LBS) and telematics industry sectors. Originally a practising town planner and surveyor, he started his career in UK local government (county and district) and highways maintenance management consultancy. Following a return to university he completed an MSc in GIS at the University of Leicester, UK. During his final semester he was employed by Merseyside Information Services to deliver a GIS-based planning applications system whilst completing his thesis. Rollins subsequently spent three years with ESRI UK as a consultant and three years as MapInfo's European product marketing manager. At MapInfo Rollins had European product marketing responsibility for the company's entire software family, from the desktop to the enterprise and including Web-based and wireless technologies. Rollins then joined San Jose, California-based LBS start-up Telcontar as European business development manager. There he was responsible for customers and partners, such as 3G mobile network operator "3", EDS and Ford. "3" successfully launched the world's first 3G LBS services in some five countries using Telcontar technology. More recently Rollins worked as an interim management consultant to the UK's National Land Information Service (NLIS) Hub, where he successfully worked with a number of local authorities to accelerate their participation in NLIS electronic property e-conveyancing and related e-Gov programmes. "Richard's experience will enable us to better support our business partners and distributors in our overseas markets, as well as our direct sales force nearer to home, through marketing programmes that enable us, jointly with our partners, to capitalise on the sales opportunities for Cadcorp software around the world," said Mike O'Neil, managing director, Cadcorp.
