Press ReleaseCadcorp wins tender to supply Havant Borough Council with corporate GIS Cadcorp, the developer of the popular Cadcorp SIS - Spatial Information System - digital mapping/GIS software suite, today announced that it had won a tender to supply corporate GIS software and services to Havant Borough Council (HBC). HBC, already experienced in using a number of GIS software packages, was looking to upgrade to a corporate system which could support the implementation and management of OS MasterMap, link direct to databases without recourse to using middleware, and implement a Web-based GIS across their corporate Intranet. HBC had previously purchased Cadcorp SIS Map Modeller for contaminated land work in 2003. Then, following a tender placed through S-CAT in April 2004, Cadcorp was successful in providing the winning bid. The tender deal includes the supply of another copy of Map Modeller, which is packaged up with Cadcorp's OS PAI Manager tool and OS MasterMap data loader as standard; both of which are relevant to HBC’s requirements. In addition, ten copies of Map Editor and the newly released Web-based GIS product Cadcorp GeognoSIS.NET were also ordered. Cadcorp will provide a range of professional services to HBC. These include the development of a Web-based GIS application, project management, consultancy on the migration from the existing in-house GIS systems to Cadcorp SIS, software implementation and training. In related business, HBC have also procured eight Cadcorp SIS CDM Viewers and four CDM Managers to integrate their GIS with Plantech's popular ACOLAID solution for planning, building control and land charges. ACOLAID was originally purchased by HBC in 2000. Plantech, a significant supplier of Local Government IT applications is a Cadcorp business partner. Linda Williams, GIS Project Manager, HBC stated: "Havant Borough Council selected Cadcorp SIS to be their Corporate GIS system following an in-depth assessment of the Cadcorp SIS product suite and its ability to meet HBC business requirements. Key factors in the decision to purchase were ease of use and the wide scope of file format support offered; with the consequential data interoperability that can be achieved. Also, HBC received very good reports about both the software and Cadcorp the company from other UK Local Authorities. HBC are now looking forward to working on their corporate roll-out in partnership with Cadcorp". "We are extremely pleased to welcome Havant Borough Council into the growing family of Cadcorp SIS local government users" stated Mike O'Neil, Managing Director, Cadcorp. "We have once again seen the importance of our support for many different data formats, particularly Ordnance Survey data. Again we have been successful in highly competitive circumstances, and as on many other occasions, we have been asked to provide a Web based GIS that fits hand-in-glove with the desktop environment", he added.
