IGN, the French national mapping agency, increases its commitment to Cadcorp’s GIS software.

Cadcorp, the developer of the popular Cadcorp SIS – Spatial Information System – digital mapping and GIS software suite, announced today that IGN, the French national mapping agency, has recently placed a contract for the provision and implementation of additional Cadcorp SIS software licences. The contract calls for a further seven licences of Cadcorp SIS Map Modeller, together with one Cadcorp SIS Internet Developer’s Kit (IDK), 13 Cadcorp CDM Modellers and the upgrading of 27 existing Cadcorp SIS Map Editor licences to Cadcorp CDM Modeller level. The additional software is required by IGN to enable it to fulfil internal GIS training requirements and for cartographic production.

Cadcorp SIS was first ordered by IGN France International (IGN-FI), the subsidiary for IGN's overseas activities, in October 2000 for the data revision of Ordnance Survey Topo '96 digital map data. At that time, 10 Cadcorp SIS Map Editor licences and a Cadcorp-developed CITF Translator were procured. In May 2001, a further 30 Cadcorp SIS Map Editor licences were purchased, since when other orders have boosted IGN's Cadcorp SIS software holding to over 100 licences.

IGN-FI is active in many cartographic and GIS projects around the world and we are proud that Cadcorp SIS continues to be purchased by them as a GIS and digital mapping tool. We have a number of national mapping agency customers, of which IGN-FI is now the largest Cadcorp SIS user," he added.

Cadcorp SIS - Spatial Information System - is a suite of Windows-based and Web-enabled end user and developer digital mapping and geographic information system (GIS) software products. Cadcorp SIS OS MasterMap Loader is supplied with Cadcorp SIS Map Modeller for the loading and management of Ordnance Survey MasterMap data in relational databases.

Cadcorp apSIS is programmable component software for the development of geospatial applications for the desktop and Pocket PC platforms.

Cadcorp mSIS is a data collection package that incorporates a desktop data capture management application and a Pocket PC based data collection tool.
