Brace of British local government orders for Cadcorp SIS

Two more orders for Cadcorp SIS have just been placed by British local authorities.

States of Jersey, the governing body of this famous Channel island, already use Cadcorp SIS desktop software as their corporate GIS engine. Now in phase 2 of their planned GIS implementation, States of Jersey has ordered Cadcorp SIS based Web GIS software, Cadcorp SIS Active Server Component (ASC).

This phase of the project, includes Cadcorp SIS ASC software along with associated training, installation, project management and customisation services. It aims to make applications and data available to the wider community over the corporate intranet and eventually, the Internet.

Ralph Buchholz of the States of Jersey’s Planning and Building Control Department, who has responsibility for the development and implementation of the new system, stated: “We selected Cadcorp SIS because not only did it provide all the fundamental GIS and Internet support facilities we needed at a keen price. The open architecture of Cadcorp SIS and its extensibility through the development tools which Cadcorp provides have been very important to us in the successful development and roll-out of our new GIS".

Richard Giblin, Business Development Executive, Cadcorp added: "We are extremely pleased that States of Jersey have once again selected Cadcorp software, this time for the Internet. Cadcorp SIS Active Server Component is a very competitive offering, nuetral of data formats and very quick to implement. It forms the basis of Medway Councils AGI award winning Web GIS service, GISMO and councils are increasingly interested in what Cadcorp SIS ASC can give them as they embark on E-Government initiatives".

In separate business, West Oxford District Council has placed an order for Cadcorp SIS. This is to provide a corporate GIS solution using desktop software, and prepare for a corporate based GIS Intranet solution.

About Cadcorp SIS

Cadcorp SIS - Spatial Information System - is a suite of Windows-based and Web-enabled end user and developer digital mapping and geographic information system (GIS) software products. The suite comprises: Map Viewer, which provides support for over 45 graphic and data formats, thematics and hard copy; Map Manager, which provides the mainstream user the ability to view, explore, query, symbolise and print digital map and associated tabular data; Map Editor, which in addition to the facilities provided by Map Manager, provides the GIS data custodian with tools to view, manage and edit map and tabular data; and Map Modeller, which adds 3D modelling, terrain analysis and several thematic and analytic mapping tools.

Cadcorp ASC (Active Server Component) extends the functionality of Cadcorp SIS for use over the Internet or a company-wide intranet. It is a dynamic, server-side Web-based GIS, not merely a map publishing tool for pre-authored images. Cadcorp ASC provides a true, interactive Web-based solution for real time map creation and analysis.
