Press Release

Port Stephens Council (Australia) selects Cadcorp SIS

Cadcorp’s distributor in Australia, Integrated Spatial Systems (ISS), has announced that Port Stephens Council has selected Cadcorp SIS – Spatial Information System – to meet its corporate GIS needs. Port Stephens Council becomes the fourth New South Wales local government authority to join the Cadcorp SIS user community in the last 12 months.

Two hours’ drive north of Sydney, Port Stephens looks up the Hunter Valley, a renowned Australian wine producing area. On 30 October 2000, ISS entered into an agreement with Port Stephens Council to provide a geographic information system (GIS) to replace their current system. Built around Cadcorp SIS, the initial installation will consist of five editing and analysis workstations using the Cadcorp SIS Map Editor and Map Modeller products, together with a Council-wide installation of ISS-SIS Enquiry.

The purpose built ISS Enquiry application is based on the Cadcorp SIS Viewer OCX, which provides low-cost map display and control of over 45 data formats together with print facilities. Cadcorp SIS will be integrated with the council's Sanderson Wacher Authority system, allowing both direct access from within the Authority system to spatial data held in Cadcorp SIS and direct access from within Cadcorp SIS to the non-spatial data held in Authority.

About Cadcorp SIS

Cadcorp SIS - Spatial Information System - is a suite of Windows-based and Web-enabled end user and developer digital mapping and geographic information system (GIS) software products.

The suite comprises: Cadcorp SIS Map Viewer, which provides access to 45 different GIS data formats plus powerful print tools; Cadcorp SIS Map Manager, which provides the casual user the ability to view, explore, query, symbolise and print digital maps and associated tabular data; Cadcorp SIS Map Editor, which in addition to the facilities provided by Map Manager, provides the GIS data custodian with tools to view, manage and edit maps and tabular data; and Cadcorp SIS Map Modeller, which adds 3D modelling, terrain analysis and several thematic and analytic mapping tools.

Cadcorp SIS ASC (Active Server Component) extends the functionality of Cadcorp SIS for use over the Internet or a company-wide intranet. It is a dynamic, server-side Web-based GIS, not merely a map publishing tool for pre-authored images. Cadcorp SIS ASC provides a true, interactive Web-based solution for real time map creation and analysis.
